David Gamper 1945-2011
David Gamper, 66, died unexpectedly Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at his home in Landgrove VT. Gamper was a member of the highly influential Deep Listening Band along with Stuart Dempster & Pauline Oliveros. At the time of his death, discussions were underway for Important and Taiga Records to release new DLB material for the 80th birthday of Oliveros on May 30, 2012. Plans will proceed to release what has sadly become Gamper's last recordings from Seattle WA, January 2011. We lost a great artist but his spirit lives on in sound & we can always find him there. To David's family & friends, our sincere condolences.

New release delays.
Both the House of Low Culture LP+12" and new Eleh LP are held up by unexpected manufacturing delays. At this point neither title has approved test pressings, but problems are being resolved as this is written. Progress will be posted here and/or on twitter as things move forward. House of Low Culture LP+12"
TAIGA 17 - House of Low Culture Poisoned Soil LP+12" is now being cut by John Golden & will be released this summer! HOLC is the long running solo project of Aaron Turner (Lotus Eaters, Isis, Mamiffer, Hydra Head, etc) & Poisoned Soil is the first full length to be released in 8 years since the 2003 CD Edward's Lament! Sige have recently released a Mamiffer / HOLC split cassette featuring a demo from Poisoned Soil, Spoiled Fruits of the Kingdom, available during their current tour.

Small Doses & Taiga Records present Mamiffer & House of Low Culture in Mpls, both featuring Aaron Turner from Lotus Eaters.
Faith Coloccia formed Mamiffer (Seattle, WA) as a solo project, expanding from her piano compositions. Now including Aaron Turner (Lotus Eaters) along with a revolving cast of collaborators and instrumentation, Mamiffer is a "freely evolving entity." Turner's long running solo project House of Low Culture unfurls ghostly drone, ambience & dark soundscapes with guitar, voice & various sources. Pentacene (formerly HeatdeatH), guitar, drums & electronics duo of Andrew Broder & Tim Glenn, churn abstract improvisations informed by black metal, free improvisation, electronic composition, etc. Dimanche, charismatic improv duo of Jon Davis & Naomi Joy (Mother of Fire), make strikingly vibrant magic with violin, clarinets & voice. June 7 @ Nick & Eddie Warehouse.

TAIGA 16 - Rafael Toral Space Elements Vol. III LP is available to order now & will begin shipping Tuesday, May 24. This volume includes incredible sound thanks to James Plotkin vinyl mastering (not found on previous volumes) & an improved jacket die with top & bottom gussets. As usual, this volume features João Paulo Feliciano artwork and graphic design by NOTYPE. Pressed on 100 opaque olive green & 400 plasma colored virgin vinyl.
According to Rafael Toral, the Space Program is all about a simple idea: to perform abstract electronic music under jazz values. The result is full of fascinating paradoxes: "melodic without notes, rhythmic without a beat, familiar but strange, meticulous but radically free". We are now releasing its most eloquent example so far: Space Elements Vol. III

TAIGA 15 - Lotus Eaters Wurmwulv 2xLP is available to order now & will begin shipping next week, around March 22. The vinyl has arrived but the Stoughton tip-on gatefold jackets are still being manufactured. There were 100 transparent cola bottle green, 300 opaque metallic silver & 600 black pressed, all on 200g virgin vinyl.
Wurmwulv follows the 2009 vinyl issue of Lotus Eaters Mind Control for Infants in spirit & form. Rearranged, remixed & remastered by James Plotkin, the Wurmwulv 2xLP also includes material from Lotus Eaters self-titled Drone Records 7-inch for an altogether new experience. Wurmwulv was direct metal mastered onto 3 sides & pressed on 200g virgin vinyl with a D-side etching by Aaron Turner. More Turner drawings are included within the Stoughton tip-on gatefold jacket designed by Stephen O'Malley featuring spot varnish, flooded pockets and gorgeous Stephen Kasner cover paintings printed on linen-textured paper.
